Does Wix allow affiliate marketing? Yes.

Wix does allow for affiliate marketing on your website in their platform. In addition, Wix also has an affiliate program of its own, if you want to promote the Wix platform as well.

Is Wix good for affiliate marketing?

In my opinion, although Wix’s websites are perfectly fine as far as functionality and getting your message out on the web, I don’t think they are ideal for affiliate marketing, display advertising or any other type of ecommerce.

The reason being is that you give up a lot of control over your website. Not only are you stuck with Wix templates, but you are even stuck with their hosting as well as their support. On top of all this, you’re also stuck with their prices as well.

So if they have a price increase or you are using too much data, etc. you basically have no other option but to stay with them. Why?

Simply because Wix not only owns the Content Management System (CMS) of your website, meaning the nuts and bolts of what makes your website function including the theme, colors design etc. But you can’t move it.

So if you spend a lot of time designing and getting your website looking and functioning exactly how you want it, you will have to actually leave that all behind and start from scratch.

With WordPress on the other hand, your website is yours including the theme. If you’re not happy with your hosting provider, you can easily change hosting providers.

If you need more speed, larger databases etc. you can change that as well.

Personally, the only thing I think Wix is good for is if you just want to use a website as your calling card.

But I certainly wouldn’t want to use it to build a brand or any type of e-commerce business.

Does Wix have an affiliate program?

As I’ve mentioned above at the beginning of this post, Wix does have an affiliate program.

If you would like to promote Wix and their platform you will earn a commission every time someone signs up through your Wix affiliate link.

Can you use Google AdSense on Wix?

You can use Google Adsense on Wix as well as other display advertising networks.

However, not all display advertising networks do except a Wix website, so you will be limited to the display advertisers you will have access to.

How much does Wix cost?

Here a link to the current price list of Wix’s plans for further information.

Is WordPress good for affiliate marketing?

WordPress is not only good for affiliate marketing, it is great for affiliate marketing. It is also great for display advertising as well as e-commerce.

Basically, if you are serious about doing business on the web, whether that’s a simple blog, website or an ecommerce store, there’s no better content management system to use than WordPress.

WordPress provides you with the ultimate freedom and flexibility. WordPress and the whole WordPress ecosystem will grow as your online business grows.

Where can I create a website for free?

You can create a website for free on various platforms.

In fact, you can even create a free WordPress website on no other than WordPress.com itself. Here’s a link for WordPress.com as well as their web hosting options.

One of their options is a free plan. However, read carefully. You are quite limited when using the WordPress free plan.

However, it surprisingly, is not as limited as you may think. You can for example, still monetize even a free hosted blog or website through their free plan.

Why is Wix bad?

Personally, I don’t think Wix is bad at all. If you want to set up a quick and easy website to get your name out on the internet. Perhaps you have a promotions company or you’re just getting started etc.

Wix has a variety of themes and plans that can get you up and running with little to know website development experience.

However, if you are serious about doing business online and want a more permanent presence as well as full control, then you can’t go wrong then going with WordPress.

What are the disadvantages of Wix?

Here’s a quick rundown of the disadvantages of Wix:

  • You don’t own the theme, Wix does.
  • Your theme is not portable. Therefore, you cannot simply change hosts, if for any reason you are not satisfied with Wix hosting your website.
  • Many display advertising companies as well as affiliate marketing programs do not allow websites that are on the Wix platform to participate in their programs. This can severely limit your monetization opportunities.
  • Not only are you locked into a theme that you can’t take with you, but you are also locked in to their hosting plans as well as their support.
  • You have no choice but to deal with their hosting support as well as their prices and this can include price increases.
  • You cannot simply just pick up, pack your bags and move to a new hosting provider. If you do, the only thing you can basically take with you is your domain name.

Can I use my own domain with Wix?

Yes, you can use your own domain with Wix. You could simply buy a domain and with a registrar and use it for your Wix website.

In fact, your domain name is the only thing that you truly own when you are using the Wix platform and is the only thing you can take away with you, if you decide to change platforms and or hosts.

Does Wix allow affiliate marketing? Summary.

Wix does allow affiliate marketing, but the real question is, “Why use Wix for your affiliate marketing website when there is a much better alternative?”

The Wix platform is not ideal for the affiliate marketer who is serious about creating and growing an online business as I’ve gone through the reasons above.

Your best option if you are interested in a career in affiliate marketing or any online business for that matter, is to go with WordPress.

WordPress will allow you the ultimate control and flexibility that every serious affiliate marketer as well as online business needs.

With WordPress your theme, that you will probably work so hard on crafting and getting it the way you want, is yours. If you decide to change hosts etc. your theme, your website, all your media, links etc. including the domain, all go with you.

With Wix however, the only thing you could take away from Wix, if you’re not satisfied, is your domain name.

Of course, you could take your content as well as media with you as well, but they are not very portable as they would be in WordPress.

You would literally have to make duplicates of everything you put on your Wix website and keep it in a separate file on your computer.

I can’t even imagine how time consuming that will be if you decide to leave weeks.

The duplicating of your content and media isn’t the hard part, but when you create a brand new website, you’re going to have to upload all those files, posts, media, images, links, etc. onto a new theme.

That’s all on top of the hassle it’s going to be starting from scratch, recreating your website the way you want it to look and function.

Bottom line, Wix does do affiliate marketing, but you could do a whole lot better.
