In this post, I’m going to go over just how you can blog anonymously and still make money anonymously.
Plus, I will give some quick answers to some frequently asked questions about blogging anonymously and making money anonymously as well as provide you with the resources to do so.
Truth of the matter is, you have just as many ways to make money with an anonymous blog as you would with a blog that is not anonymous. The two main questions you need to consider first are:
- How much anonymity do you really need?
- What forms of payment are you willing to accept?
How much anonymity do you really need?
For 99.9% of us, the degree of anonymity that I have outlined in several posts about anonymity in this Anonymous link, including how to set up your anonymous blog, hosting and email, should be more anonymity than any of us will ever need, if we choose not to reveal our identities online to the entire world.
In fact, if you notice some of the blogs you read may not even have an “About us” page. If they do it’s often referred to as “the Team”.
However, it’s not that often that you actually see a real person, their photo as well as their real name in it. You certainly won’t see where they are located, their address, where they work etc.
Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of blogs that do display this information, but you’ll be surprised at the amount that don’t. So in essence, many blogs, including to a certain extent this one, are semi-anonymous.
It wouldn’t take much to find the real owner of any blog, if they don’t take the appropriate steps that I’ve outlined in several of those posts, regarding anonymity and how to get it online.
What forms of payment are you willing to accept?
The following forms of payment that I will outline all have some degree of anonymity. The most anonymous being of course Bitcoin.
But you can also set up legitimate accounts with other legal, financial institutions, yet still retain a good degree of anonymity.
This type of financial anonymity should be considered an additional layer. Not really necessary, but could prove useful.
You can easily set up accounts with your true name and receive payments to your preferred financial institution, like your bank.
However, many of these companies including affiliate programs, display advertising networks, etc. will simply give you links or code for you to install in the relative content on your blog.
This code, nor where the code is linked to, will carry any identifying information about you.
But if you want that extra layer of anonymity, there are two additional methods that I will go into below other than Bitcoin that can give you that.
All are legitimate and legal means in which to conduct and receive financial transactions and payments.
Setting up Anonymous Personas, Blog and Hosting.
If you want to be able to make money with an anonymous blog, you’re going to have to set up an anonymous persona, email address as well as acquire some anonymous offshore hosting.
All of these are quite simple to do actually.
In fact, if you check out any one, or all, of these posts through the link below called “Anonymous”, they will show you how to do just that:
What are the best ways to anonymously get paid online?
Obviously, the best way to get paid anonymously on mine is through a cryptocurrency like Bitcoin.
But there are also a couple of other ways that will allow you to remain relatively anonymous to most of the outside world, while receiving money and being able to spend that money in a legitimate and legal way.
However, let’s first start with the most anonymous way to receive the money that you make online with your Blog and that’s through Bitcoin.
Bitcoin.
Surprisingly, more and more affiliate programs and other online vendors that you will most likely be doing business with anonymously, are accepting Bitcoin as a form of payment.
However, if you only want to use Bitcoin, you’re going to be severely limited in your monetization options.
Therefore, the following two ways can also keep your online persona anonymous, but also allow you to earn and receive your online earnings legitimately, while again keeping you relatively anonymous.
These are, PayPal and opening a Business Bank Account under an anonymous business name.
Both these ways will keep you relatively anonymous, but will still allow you to participate in all of the above methods of making money online with your anonymous blog.
PayPal.
You can use PayPal for business transactions, and you’ll have to decide which type of account you wish to set up.
A PayPal Business Account offers higher transaction limits, but they do require a business name, business email, business website (you can use your Anonymous Blog) and phone number, so you should also look into PayPal’s hide name feature to protect your real information.
You can even use an LLC using a fictitious DBA (see below). This can provide an even extra layer of anonymity
In addition to business details, you need to also provide your personal details as the business owner.
Everyone can see the business details, but again, you can choose to hide your personal details because PayPal only needs them for administrative purposes.
You can just use your Anonymous Blog email to either receive PayPal payments or you can set up billing and invoices with the name of your Anonymous Blog as the business name on your billing and invoices.
But how can you receive PayPal payments anonymously?
In order to withdraw payments, you must first allocate the funds into a verified credit/debit card and or to your bank account. Only PayPal will have your personal banking details, again, for administrative purposes, but no-one else.
Then again, you can always verify your Business PayPal Account with you Business Bank Account (again, see below, “Get a DBA and Register an LLC.”)
Get a DBA and Register an LLC.
To allow yourself to have the most opportunities to blog anonymously and make money you should open a Business Bank Account.
Relax, you could do this in a way that will shield and protect your real identity to most of the outside world, except of course, the authorities.
In order to open up a Business Bank Account and have it under your Anonymous Blog’s name or any fictitious name you choose, you are first going to have to file for a DBA which stands for Doing Business As.
This is basically a business name that you use and that’s the name that will appear on all financial transactions with whomever you decide to do business with through your Business Bank Account.
After you file for a DBA and it’s approved, then you would need to start an LLC in the state you reside in.
Please note that this is for US citizens only. If you reside in another country, please check your own country’s appropriate business laws, procedures and practices.
Once you set up an LLC in your state you will also need of course to register that LLC with the IRS. The IRS will give you a tax identification number or an EIN (Employer Identification Number).
That EIN is similar to a Social Security Number, but for LLC’s.
Please note once more, that this is not business nor legal advice, only a general overview of the practice. You should do further research into how to open an LLC, getting a DBA as well as how to open a Business Bank Account for more accurate information.
Once you do all this you can simply go to your local bank and open up a Business Bank Account under your new LLC with your new business name.
Once you open up that bank account you can now receive and even make payments through it just as you would under your own personal name and personal bank account.
Also note, that the government will of course know your real identification through these business entities because you have to use it when you file for a DBA and LLC. Your local bank may also request your personal information as well.
But that should be the extent of it.
You can now use your Business Bank Account under your business name to open up accounts with any number of online venders of your preferred monetization method.
Is there any way to anonymously collect donations online for my blog?
To anonymously collect donations online for your anonymous blog you can simply open up a patreon account.
You could do this not only anonymously, but it will also send you your donations via PayPal as well as of course to your chosen bank via your Anonymous Blogs Business Account that you will have hopefully set up.
How to blog anonymously and make money, conclusions.
There you have it. As you can see you can blog anonymously and make just as much money as those who don’t blog anonymously.
It all comes down to two things:
- Setting up your anonymous blog, persona, email and hosting.
- Setting up which method of payments you’re comfortable with receiving, depending on the degree of anonymity you wish to have.
However, the amount of anonymity that these methods cover should be more than enough anonymity for not only having an anonymous blog, but for receiving payments as well.
At the end of the day, no one is truly anonymous online except a very, very few. But these people are highly skilled and experienced operators who are used to operating in such a way.
For most of us, who just need anonymity to be able to express our points of view, our opinions whether they are controversial or potentially scandalous, but not illegal, then the above methods should give you more than enough anonymity so you can blog anonymously and hopefully make tons of money!
